Alone on the road of my destiny, without the shelter of your gaze, I am like a bird that, along the way, broke the strings of its song.

The radiant dawn is born, a clear morning, a lovely rosebush; the star shines, the fountain sings, life smiles because you are here.

When you are not here, the flower has no fragrance; if you leave, the mist envelops me; the thrush, the fountain and the stars lose their allure for me.

When you are not here, my hope dies; if you leave, my dreams leave too. Hear my lament, which I entrust to the wind; everything is pain when you are not here.

ENGLISH

“The strings of its song” the bird's voice is imagined as a broken string instrument. The comparison suggests that absence brings not only sadness but also the loss of the ability to sing.

A landscape changed by love dawn, rosebush, fountain and stars still exist, but lose their charm for the speaker. The lyric shows a change in perception, not in nature.

“Amparo”, “zorzal” and “ilusión” “amparo” is protection; a zorzal is a thrush, known for its song; “ilusión” here means a wish or hope. The beloved's gaze becomes a refuge.
