ENGLISH
Entrerriano, milonguero and compadrito “Entrerriano” means a man from Entre Ríos; “milonguero” places him in the dancing world. The compadrito combines swagger, presence and skill. The voice introduces a proud character, rather than a verified autobiography of the authors.
“Aguantar el tren” and “hasta el mango” the first expression means keeping up or holding one's own against others. Tough men and little cuts evoke knife-related bravado; this is a reading of the imagery. “Hasta el mango” means completely, holding nothing back.
Cortadas, cortes and gotán cortadas are short streets, here turned into paths of affection. Cortes refer to figures or expressive pauses in the dance. “Gotán” reverses the syllables of “tango”, a practice called vesre; the character ultimately identifies himself with tango itself.
