ENGLISH
Criolla and pebeta Criolla places the soul and the girl within the homeland and its culture. The diminutive criollita conveys affection, rather than a racial classification. Pebeta means a young girl. Village and neighborhood make returning a homecoming to a place as well as a person.
Wings and compass The swallow represents the urge to travel. Fever, intoxication and the mad compass turn that motion into a passion difficult to govern. Quimera names the impossible wish to stop it: travel seems part of its identity.
A nest in loving arms Flight finds its opposite in the nest and folded wings. Lips and arms promise rest from the longing for distant places. “I too” brings the traveler close to the birds: the voice hopes love can reconcile travel and belonging.
Strings and songs Cordaje refers to an instrument’s strings. The blue wake joins the trace of travel to song; sowing harmonies makes music a mark left in other lands. The ending returns to flight, keeping the tension between departure and homecoming open.
