Go on, my friend, pour me some, and fill the champagne glass to the brim, for on this night of revelry and joy I want to drown the pain within my soul. This is the last wild night of my life, my life, my friends, that is slipping away... or rather, has already followed the woman who never knew how to value my love.

I loved her, my friends, and I still love her, and I will never be able to forget her; I get drunk because of her, and who knows what she may be doing. Pour some more champagne, waiter, for all my pain I shall drown in drink; and if you see her, my friends, tell her that it was for love of her that my life has slipped away.

And let us toast with the last glass, for perhaps she too, at this very moment, is offering her lips amid some toast, and other happy lips will kiss them. Go on, my friend, pour me some, and fill the champagne glass to the brim, for my life has followed the woman who never knew how to value my love.

ENGLISH

“Farra” Means revelry or a party. The outward merriment contrasts with the speaker's pain.

“My life has followed that woman” Lost love is expressed as though life itself had departed with her. It is an image of heartbreak, not a literal statement.

“Offering her lips amid some toast” The toast merges with the image of another person's kiss. Imagining her elsewhere deepens the pain of the man who still loves her.
