ENGLISH
The neighborhood as mother The protagonist, who never knew a mother’s caresses, finds his origin and shelter in the neighborhood. Losing it means being left without refuge again.
Progress as an aggressor The swipe and the clawing blow present urban change as violence. The bridge and neighborhood preserve the memory of what the avenue destroys.
“Matrera” and “gleba” Matrera evokes a life outside the law; gleba here names the oppressed or dispossessed. The individual voice also expresses social resentment.
