ENGLISH
A neighborhood waltz “Romance de barrio” is a waltz with music by Aníbal Troilo. The balcony, garden and letters form an everyday intimacy: the neighborhood holds the memory without the lyric providing a specific address.
The faults that were never ours the repetition makes innocence coexist with shared punishment. It can be read as the pain of two people who hurt each other out of resentment, without fully understanding what they were destroying. “Just because” leaves that estrangement without a sufficient cause.
From the meeting to ashes the same images return at the end, worn down by time. The voices come back defeated, and love becomes a debt. Disowning it all and leaving seems easier in the moment; the rest of the poem shows how hard it is to live unable to forget.
